On the reverse: The Year of the Ox gold design features a strong bull ox, standing proudly on the earth, gazing intently over its shoulder. The design also features the Chinese character for ox, year of release “1997”, gold weight and proof.
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.
